Social Media Management & Digital Marketing Professional Certificate
About Course
This beginner course teaches you to manage social media pages and basic digital marketing using tools that cost nothing to start with: your phone, free platform features, the Canva free plan and a free spreadsheet. It is written for young people and for staff of small businesses and NGOs in South Sudan and East Africa, who often manage pages from a phone with limited data.
You begin with goals, audiences and the general uses of platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, together with the ethics of posting: consent for photos, safeguarding children, honest claims and care with misinformation. You then learn content pillars, content calendars, caption writing, accessibility and low-data posting, followed by simple visuals, photos and short video.
The later modules cover replying to comments, handling complaints and crises, WhatsApp and email broadcasts, brand voice, paid promotion at concept level, measuring results with free built-in insights and simple spreadsheets, and the basics of being found through search. Platform screens and features change often, so the lessons teach principles and ask you to check each platform’s current help pages.
The course has six modules over about twenty hours of study, with a written lesson, a practical activity and reflection questions in each lesson, a quiz after each of the first five modules, and a final examination. Module 6 includes a capstone project in which you prepare a four-week content calendar and six sample posts for a fictional community organisation and assess your work against a checklist. On completion you receive a Bang Ti Lenydoor certificate of completion. It is not an accredited or formal qualification, and the course does not promise jobs, income or any particular online results.
