WordPress Website Building Professional Certificate
About Course
This beginner course teaches you to plan, build and look after a small website with WordPress, using free tools to practise: a free local installation or a free plan on a hosted service. It is written for young people and for staff and volunteers of small businesses and NGOs in South Sudan and East Africa, who often work with a phone or a modest computer and limited data.
You begin by learning how websites work: browsers, servers, domain names, hosting and HTTPS, and the difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com at a general level. You then plan a site with a clear goal, a small set of pages and simple navigation before you open the dashboard.
The middle modules cover installing and setting up WordPress, posts and pages, the block editor, images prepared for low bandwidth, menus, themes, design basics, plugins by category, contact forms, accessibility and privacy. The later modules teach security, user roles, backups, basic SEO, speed, mobile-first thinking, a maintenance routine, launching and measuring with free analytics.
Each lesson has objectives, a fictional example, a hands-on activity, reflection questions and key terms. Software screens and plans change between versions, so you are taught the ideas and encouraged to check current documentation. The course ends with a capstone, a five-page site for a fictional community organisation that you assess against a checklist, and a final examination. You receive a Bang Ti Lenydoor certificate of completion, which is not an accredited qualification.
