About Course

NewThis certificate just launched and is open for enrollment now.

Whether you are applying for work, supporting a team or running a community project, people judge your work partly by how clearly you communicate. This course teaches the standard, practical skills of workplace communication so that you can write and speak with clarity, courtesy and confidence.

It is designed for young people, job seekers, office staff and members of NGO and small-business teams in South Sudan and East Africa who work in English, often alongside other languages. No earlier training is needed. All examples are fictional and are labelled as illustrations, and every activity can be done with pen and paper or with free tools such as LibreOffice Writer or Google Docs.

You will move step by step: purpose, audience, tone and plain English; professional emails, messaging and letters; CVs and cover letters; meetings, agendas and minutes; listening, feedback, speaking and cross-cultural communication; and finally report writing, from the executive summary to referencing sources honestly, editing and proofreading.

The course runs at a steady pace of about 20 study hours in total, with a quiz after each module, a capstone project (a two-page situation report and an email cover note for a fictional community project) and a final examination. This is a practical skills course. It gives a Bang Ti Lenydoor certificate of completion and is not an accredited qualification, and it does not promise a job or income.
