Introduction to Python Programming course cover

About Course

This course is the next step after Introduction to Python Programming. It is written for learners who can already write basic Python (variables, if statements, loops and functions) and want to build larger, better organised programs that read real files, talk to web services and store data in a database.

Across the course you will use tuples, sets and comprehensions; design simple classes and use inheritance where it helps; read and write CSV and JSON files; call a real web API; organise code into modules and packages; use virtual environments and pip; debug, write unit tests and add logging; and store records in a SQLite database. You will practise with small projects, including a contacts database and a command-line expense tracker, and finish with a capstone project that builds a Scholarship Applicant Tracker.

The course has eight modules and 30 written lessons, with a quiz for each module and practical activities that only need a computer and free software. Study at your own pace.

This course is free. It is a Bang Ti Lenydoor course and is not an accredited or formal qualification, and it does not promise jobs, income or admission to any programme.

What Will You Learn?

  • Use tuples, sets, and comprehensions to write more concise, idiomatic Python
  • Design simple classes and apply object-oriented programming where it genuinely helps
  • Read and write CSV and JSON files, and call a real web API to work with live data
  • Organize code into modules and packages, manage dependencies with pip and virtual environments
  • Debug systematically, write unit tests, and use logging instead of scattered print statements
  • Complete a full realistic capstone project applying every module to one working program
  • Store and query data with SQLite, using safe parameterised commands instead of hand-built SQL
  • Structure a multi-file project (models, database, interface) and build a complete command-line expense tracker as a second capstone
