Eligibility
- Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (160+ countries u2014 confirm your specific country on the official Chevening site before applying; this was not individually confirmed for every country during our verification)
- Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to at least a UK upper-second-class (2:1) honours degree
- Have completed undergraduate studies at least two years before the application deadline
- At least 2,800 hours (roughly two years) of work experience, paid or unpaid
- Commit to returning to your home country for a minimum of two years after the scholarship ends
- Must not hold British/dual British citizenship
- Apply to three different eligible UK university courses

Application Process
1. Confirm eligibility for your specific country on the official Chevening website
2. Select up to three eligible UK master's course choices (no university offer needed yet)
3. Submit your application via the official online portal, including required essays
4. If longlisted, submit two referee contacts (Chevening contacts them directly, not the applicant)
5. Attend an interview at a British embassy or high commission
6. If successful, secure at least one unconditional UK university offer by the stated deadline
7. Complete English language requirement and pre-departure steps
Required Documents
Passport-sized photograph meeting UK visa requirements. Contact details for two referees (letters are requested directly by Chevening, not submitted by the applicant). An unconditional UK university offer letter (required at a later stage, not at initial application).
Important Notes
Chevening cannot be deferred u2014 if you cannot take up the award in the year offered, you must reapply in a future cycle. The two-year return-home commitment is binding; not returning can require repayment of the full scholarship. You do not need a university offer at the time of application, only at the conditional-offer stage.
